About Taiping Old Street
The buildings in Taiping Old Street were built in three Japanese periods: Meiji, Taisho, and Showa. They were built in Baroque style and have a history of nearly a hundred years. Each building is two stories high.
The outer walls of the front wall of the second floor are exquisitely carved, including lifelike patterns such as dragons and fishes. Some buildings are also engraved with the surnames of the residents. In addition to declaring the virtue of not forgetting the original, it also has the meaning of a prominent family.
Most of the buildings here are made of clear water bricks, with some cement stuccoing, washed stones and classical clay seat carvings, forming brick-based facades.
In order to prevent homeowners from rebuilding these historic sites into modern buildings, the Council for Cultural Affairs and the Municipal Office have implemented a reconstruction plan for historic districts in line with the new urban and rural landscape.
Unify the store signs, set up leisure facilities, various plantings, and street lights, and cooperate with the reconstruction of the ring.
And the old house was refurbished, so that the Taiping Street house presented the form of building materials, beautiful surfaces, and exposed terraces. The road surface was paved with characteristic floor tiles.
Let the old street become an open-air leisure place in Yunlin County that combines business, sightseeing and leisure activities.
